Jasper MacSlarrow
Jasper MacSlarrow is director of international intellectual property for China and special projects for the Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC) at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. MacSlarrow concentrates on strengthening the enforcement of and future foundation for intellectual property rights in China, with an emphasis on online counterfeiting and piracy, regulatory data protection (RDP), software legalization, patent linkage, and enterprise piracy.
MacSlarrow previously served as legislative director for Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA) and staff co-director of the congressional U.S.-China Working Group (USCWG) where he organized and led delegations to China. At USCWG, he focused on a number of issues related to the U.S.-China bilateral relationship, including intellectual property rights (IPR), market access issues, indigenous innovation, and energy cooperation.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
Prior to working in the House of Representatives, MacSlarrow was a legislative assistant for Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-MD). Before that, he interned at the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) in Seattle.
MacSlarrow attended high school in Hong Kong. He earned a master’s degree in political science from Western Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from the Jackson School of International Relations at the University of Washington. He and his wife, Tiffany, live in Washington, D.C., and have one daughter, Ainsley.
