Gina Vetere

Executive Director, International Intellectual Property

As executive director for International Intellectual Property (IP) at the U.S. Chamber’s Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC), Gina Vetere oversees the center’s multilateral and international programs promoting the protection of IP rights. Vetere also guides GIPC’s efforts in raising awareness of and support for the value of IP as vital to job creation, global development, and economic progress domestically and abroad.

Before joining the U.S. Chamber in January 2010, Vetere served as director for Intellectual Property and Innovation at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). In this capacity, she worked to ensure the implementation of U.S. trade policies to promote the adequate and effective protection and enforcement of IP rights overseas and improved market access for U.S. innovative industries. Vetere was also responsible for negotiations with trading partners on intellectual property protection and enforcement issues in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Previously, Vetere was special assistant and senior policy advisor to the Deputy United States Trade Representative. She was responsible for helping the Deputy USTR formulate and implement trade policies related to intellectual property, services, and investment, and with managing trade relations with U.S. trading partners.

Vetere has also practiced law in the D.C. office of the global law firm DLA Piper LLP, where she worked as an associate in the Government Affairs and International Trade practice and co-directed the firm’s pro bono legal reform project in Kosovo. She also has experience working on international development programs, including with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.

A native of New York, Vetere holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College. She lives in McLean, Virginia, with her husband and daughter.
