Coalition Against Counterfeiting and Piracy

To fight the growing threat of counterfeiting and piracy to the economy, jobs, and consumer health and safety, the business community, led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Global Intellectual Property Center, organized itself through a broad-based business coalition, the Coalition Against Counterfeiting and Piracy (CACP).

The CACP has grown to more than 500 members, making it the largest business coalition of its kind.  The coalition is committed to increasing the understanding of the negative impact of counterfeiting and piracy and to finding real solutions by working with governments, industry, opinion leaders, the media, and consumers.

This year, the CACP is focusing on a few primary goals, which we believe will make a measurable impact in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy.

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office IP Attachés Roundtable

December 19, 2007 - The CACP's International Task Force and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Global Intellectual Property Center hosted several IP Attachés to share their experiences from their different regions and provide information about best practices in obtaining, protecting, and enforcing IP rights outside of the United States.  This session provided a great opportunity to learn how to better protect companies' brands around the world and to discuss emerging issues and strategies in the global fight against counterfeiting and piracy.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Global Intellectual Property Center will continue to support efforts like the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's to promote and protect innovation worldwide.

No Trade in Fakes Supply Chain Tool Kit now available

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the (CACP) are pleased to present the No Trade in Fakes Supply Chain Tool Kit. This important document showcases many proven strategies that companies, both small and large, use to protect their supply chains from counterfeiters and modern-day pirates.

The only document of its kind, the Tool Kit highlights successful strategies companies employ, from sourcing to distribution, to eliminate illegitimate products from supply chains.  It also includes seven case studies of companies, including Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, New Balance, and Purdue Pharma, that discuss the problems they each face in brand protection and the aggressive techniques they employ to fight counterfeiting and piracy and protect consumers.
